St Cleer Holy Well - volunteer opportunity

Published: 31 March 2023

Hello, from everyone at Cornwall Heritage Trust.

Following our recent acquisition of St Cleer’s Well, we have been presented with a unique opportunity to do some preservation work with the Old Light Building Conservation Company this month.

With this in mind, we are offering the chance for four volunteers to take part in an exclusive workshop, working alongside these expert contractors and learning building conservation skills in order to help consolidate and conserve the holy well for future generations.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday 12th April and will run from 9am to 4pm.

The team from the Old Light Building Conservation Company will introduce volunteers to using lime as a building material in the conservation of historic monuments, the safety aspects of using it and demonstrate best practice in applying and finishing joints. There will also be the opportunity for volunteers to gain hands-on experience to assist the work at St Cleer's Well with the support of the conservation team.

The workshop will take place at the site of St Cleer’s Well in St Cleer.
